What is the Thalam MCP server?

It connects Thalam to Claude, ChatGPT and other AI apps you already use, over the Model Context Protocol, the open standard they use to reach tools. Your AI writes the film and every prompt in it, and Thalam creates the board in your account.

Which apps work with it?

Claude, on the web and in the desktop app, Claude Code, and ChatGPT with developer mode. Other apps that connect to remote MCP servers with a sign-in can use the same address: https://mcp.thalam.ai/mcp.

Do I need a Thalam account?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You sign in with your Thalam account when you connect, and the boards go to your account. You do not need an API key.

Do Claude or ChatGPT generate anything?

Accepted Answer

No. They plan the film and Thalam builds the board: nothing is generated or charged from there. You choose what to make, in Thalam.

What can Claude or ChatGPT see in my account?

Accepted Answer

Your workspaces and their balances, and the names of your voices, so they can plan with them. They can build boards, and replace a board they built until you change it. They cannot generate, spend your balance, or see anything else. To disconnect, remove Thalam from the app's connectors, or end it in your Thalam dashboard under Settings, Connected apps.

Can Claude or ChatGPT change the board after it is built?

Yes. Ask in the same conversation, for music, another shot or a different ending, and the board changes in Thalam, even while you have it open. Once you have changed the board yourself, they build a new board instead, so your work is never overwritten.

Yes, it is your board. Change any prompt, add or remove shots, and generate any node, in Thalam.

Thalam is in private beta, so connecting works once your account is in.
